A quick post before the holiday weekend

Hi all and thanks for stopping by.  I just have a quick post today to show you a pendant I made a few weeks ago.

I love caged beads.  I especially love Janice Berkebile's work and her caged beads.   I decided to try one from her book, finally.

I used copper and bronze wire for the cage and I captured some very small dichroic glass buttons inside.  It's a pod and I love the way the wires from the supports become tendrils.

It was a fun project and fun to wear.  I know I'll do more of them and other styles, too.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend!  Summer is finally here!!!

  3. i am laughing right now...i have the weather on while i am reading blog...windchill in the 30s with possibility of snow right in our area this evening. yup...summer is finally here! LOL So let's talk jewelry since the weather is a bust. This pod is gorgeous in a real funky way! What a great vibe. And it offers endless possibilities of what can be inside that pod. This is really fun and wonderful.

  5. Hi Maryanne. I hope you had a nice holiday weekend. Your caged pendant is beautiful. I've always admired Janice Berkebile's work and have never made this particular pendant myself. It's always feels great to tackle a project that you've been meaning to try - I have a few myself that I'd like to attempt one of these days. I like how you added the dichroic buttons inside of the caged pendant. The sky's the limit with a pod style like this one!

  6. What a gorgeous pendant - I love the idea of the caged beads. Years ago a friend gave me a wire fishing bait cage - he knows I like weird things(!) and I have often photographed different objects in it - there is something fascinating about little wire cages with things in them. I would so happily wear this pendant - it's beautiful.
